OVER THE BARRICADE
Over The Barricade
Over the Barricade
Over the Barricade is a tongue-in-cheek picket line installed in the grounds of the Footscray Community Arts Centre which directly engages in the debate around the evaluation of art.
The artwork employs tactics of pseudo-protest and humour to engage in a discussion of the issues at the Spectres of Evaluation conference. It aims to draw attention to the paradoxes and questions raised by socially engaged art practice; the distinction between art, audiences and art language; and the vast gap between art and life.
Commissioned by The Centre for Cultural Partnerships,
VCA & MCM, University of Melbourne and Footscray
Community Arts Centre.

Created in collaboration with Louise Lavarack.
